A carer is someone who cares for a person who needs regular assistance because of an illness, disability or the inability to do some everyday tasks on their own. … Of course, it can also happen that carers feel they are under appreciated and their roleis overlooked by others.
A parent carer forum is a group of parents and carers of disabled children who work with local authorities, education settings, health providers and other providers to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of disabled children and families.
To contact social services, go to GOV.UK: find your local authority. If you are eligible for homecare services, the local authority may provide or arrange the help themselves. Alternatively, you can arrange your own care, funded by the local authority, through direct payments or a personal budget.
What Has Been Your Biggest Career Mistake
#1:- The first mistake was Not choosing Engineering over Commerce after schooling, i chose to go with the idea of friends, who chose commerce. I never knew i was good at mathematics and physics and i sucked in accounting until it was too late.
#2:- The second mistake was not correcting the mistake, instead i complicated it by working in IT industry after graduation instead of banking or finance with no real life engineering or IT degree, while all my colleagues were all better qualified in paper than me, it seriously had an effect on my growth within the company. I was never able to explain why i would work in IT just because of my passion – the prospective employers always wanted skills in paper, not the real life experience.
#3:- and the Third and fatal mistake was, skipping the chance i had to do MBA in one of the premier B schools in India, just because my girlfriend was not comfortable with the idea that me doing full time MBA, that she might get some proposals and she wont be able to stand for me, while i am studying with no income at all (earning more than what i was getting a full time job from Upwork, the world’s largest online workplace did not count!) and while i was OK with the idea of doing MBA later, she left me for someone better, i was stuck in a foreign job with no hope of coming back to do MBA, neither did have energy to do so. I lost the dream career shift, the girl, the prospects, time, energy !
Relationships or career? i’ll gladly choose career over any girl now ! Just like lady gaga said. “remember that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn’t love you”
What’s The Biggest Career Mistake You’ve Ever Made?
During the launching phase of my 1st startup, we were near the railway station distributing flyers to people. We distributed 7’000 flyers in one day and people were pretty kind with us, we have heard a lot of positive feedback.
Then there was this guy, black suit, sunglasses, suitcase, well the perfect business-and-busy-man look.He talked to one of my friend who was helping us giving the flyers, and he asked “Who is the founder of this startup?”, my friend looked at me and said “This guy”.
The black suit guy came in my direction and took off his sunglasses. He began “So you are the founder? I have always wanted to launch a similar platform, I have had the same idea two years ago, but due to my obligations it was too risky. I have a family, 3 children, a house and I am too old for launching a startup.”
So I answered “Oh well you know, there is no age to launch a startup!”The black suit guy said “Well, listen, I am the President of a Marketing Club and a lot of my investors friends always get crazy about startups. Your projet is very interesting, we could meet this afternoon for a coffee and we will talk business.”
At this exact moment, I was so focused about distributing my 7’000 flyers to promote my startup, that I said “I’m busy all day for these flyers, but maybe another day?” The black suit guy replied “No problem, just give me your business card and I will contact you.” So I gave him my business card and he left. I was freaking excited.
Then, after 30 seconds, I hit my head against a wall. I realized that I should have said “YES let’s meet this afternoon for a coffee” and…that I did not ask him about his business card.Poor me. He did not contact me, I did not find his name on internet and I missed a potential huge opportunity. I have never been so stupid in my entire life.
Lessons learned : NEVER miss an opportunity and ALWAYS ask for contact information.
Now some people will say why not work on your own start-up? And I will say – sure that will certainly be amazing, but even then, this is how you really need to inspire people in your organization and you are sure to succeed.
Choosing the stream which my parents and relative thought was better for me..instead of what I thought was better for me..Stay blessed and stay inspired!
